Now that summer is finally here (let’s hope it’s here to stay!), I can’t help but let my mind wander to far-off sunny shores! I am a total travel junkie and am ready with my passport at every opportunity, so when it comes to the thought of a once in a lifetime honeymoon after a wedding, I’m on it, packed and ready!

Not everyone is like me however, and sometimes couples return straight to normal life after their wedding. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own thoughts, but believe me the post wedding comedown is not very nice and even one night away is exactly what you will need!
Whether you’ve set aside one, two, three or four nights for a mini moon, here are my suggestions on where you could go… And as I said, my passport is always primed, so if you need some extra company…!
One Night
Boarding a plane for one night away is not going to get you very far, so why not stay on home turf? Hosts of the G8 summit this year, Lough Erne Resort just outside Enniskillen in County Fermanagh is a tranquil hideaway perfect for spending a night at- although don’t blame us if you want to stay more!
The Resort is the first AA and NITB Five Star hotel in Northern Ireland and it is easy to see why. The Resort is a haven for golf lovers with its two Championship golf courses, the Faldo Course and Castle Hume Course. There is plenty of relaxing to be done at the resort with the authentic Thai Spa and not forgetting the unforgettable dining experiences that await you at the Catalina Restaurant, The Blaney Bar which has an exclusive collection of 101 Irish whiskies and the option of enjoying Afternoon Tea in The Garden Hall.

The setting of the resort will quite literally take your breath away with its setting on the edge of the lough, whilst rooms are pure luxury with an old world charm. For an extra special treat you can stay in one of the Loughside Lodges which comes with their very own kitchen dining area, lounge and sumptuous bathroom and bedroom.

Two Nights
With two nights away you can broaden your horizons and jump on a short flight to mainland Europe. Amsterdam is the perfect place for a quick getaway and offers everything you could ask for including plenty of sightseeing hotspots, great shopping, culture, top class eateries and a great selection of hotels to suit all budgets.

At the higher end of the scale the The Grand Amsterdam offers five star luxury in the unique ambience of historical Amsterdam. The building which was built in 1578 has frequently been visited by legendary people such as the French Queen Maria de’Medici. The hotel is furnished with French elegance and grandeur and to this day attracts many famous visitors. The hotel has an inner garden which is the perfect place to waste away an afternoon of relaxation!

Three Nights
If you crave the buzz of a city but also long for some sun and sea, Barcelona is your perfect destination! Hop on the metro and you could be in the thick of the city’s buzz, a few stops further on and you will be on a beautiful beach. Barcelona is a dreamy city with so much to see and do, places to visit including the infamous Sagrada Familia and for the man in your life the Nou Camp. A leisurely dinner as the sun sets at Port Vell is a must with many amazing fish restaurants to choose from. When it comes to accommodation there is an uncountable number of hotels to choose from, but if you want to stay in Barcelona’s must famous head to the W Barcelona.
